At our July 19th General Meeting, Joe Harvey, Environmental Scientist for California State Parks, gave an excellent presentation on the work being planned and executed at CBTSP. The attached presentation describes how the park is planning to restore a resilient forest among these protected giant trees. He discussed how they are using GIS images and the Land Management Unit model (LMU) to spatially parse the landscape based on topography and aspect to prioritize areas for treatment, using the most appropriate and potentially successful methods to recreate forest heterogeneity.
