Strategic Plan (2018-2023)

The anticipated 2022 sunset of ACCG’s CFLR funding was the catalyst for developing this 5-year strategic plan to examine the group’s current state and to position ACCG for the future, once CFLRA funds are no longer available. A dedicated working group, representing the interests of the full ACCG, attended monthly meetings to review existing governance documents, consider current and future needs of the group, and to plot a deliberate path forward that provides a productive and sustainable future for ACCG. This document is the result of that work. It was developed in 2017-18, was presented to ACCG members for comment in June of 2018, and was adopted July 18, 2018. The plan is intended to be reviewed quarterly to track progress toward goals, and to change course where required. An annual “celebration of progress” will also be held. An ad hoc working group developed a 5-year strategic plan for the ACCG in 2017-18. Click here for the original draft plan and updated plan (as of 10/20/2018).

Communication & Engagement Plan

The ACCG serves as an information sharing and networking forum for members and others who are committed to an all-lands, landscape approach in pursuit of the group’s triple bottom line mission. To that end, the ACCG’s Communication and Engagement (C&E) Plan provides information to guide the communication, outreach and engagement, and education activities of the Amador-Calaveras Consensus Group (ACCG). It identifies goals, principles, audiences, basic messages, communication objectives and strategies, education objectives and strategies, and annual evaluation and prioritization. This plan is meant to serve as a living document that will be updated, as warranted.

Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) Shared Vision

The ACCG’s Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) Ad Hoc group, a subcommittee of the ACCG Planning Work Group, developed the TEK Shared Vision Statement as a future guiding document for the collaborative, and received approval from the full ACCG in November 2022. This vision statement includes the following actions:

  • Commitment to building personal relationships and trust with Native people to learn and understand TEK for application to programs and projects.
  • Commitment to early outreach to Native people for TEK to use in project prescriptions, design criteria, and specifications.
  • Commitment to supporting protection, enhancement, and mitigation of sensitive areas, including sites of cultural value, traditional gathering, and archaeological deposits.

Pyrosilviculture Shared Vision

The ACCG’s Pyrosilviculture/Rx Fire Ad Hoc group, a subcommittee of the ACCG Planning Work Group, developed the Pyrosilviculture Shared Vision Statement as a future guiding document for the collaborative’s planning and implementation efforts. This document received approval from the full ACCG in August 2021. This vision statement is intended to utilize the best available science to restore forests to a more resilient natural condition to reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfires. To that end, the vision statement cites the work published by North et al. (2021) in the Journal of Forestry, titled “Pyrosilviculture Needed for Landscape Resilience of Dry Western United States Forests”, (link to North et al. 2021 paper here). as a guiding method of forest restoration.
