| Dear CAL FIRE Fire Prevention Grant Partners,
CAL FIRE’s California Climate Investment (CCI) Fire Prevention Grant Program was targeting a late summer solicitation for awarding new projects in this fiscal year (FY 20/21). Unfortunately, this year’s state budget does not include grant funding from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund for these grant programs. Therefore, CAL FIRE will be unable to hold a new grant solicitation for the Fire Prevention Grant Program unless and until a new budget is passed.
We’re sorry to have to deliver this disappointing news. Should anything change in the next several months, we will post an update via this list-serv and our program web page.
CAL FIRE wants to assure existing grantees that all obligated grant funding will remain for the purposes of the projects awarded as detailed in the individual grant agreements.
CAL FIRE’s grants and Fire Prevention Program staff will continue to provide support of our existing grantees and work with potential partners in strategizing on future impactful projects. We are pleased to announce that we are nearing the end of a year-long process of improving our existing application and grants management processes, eventually moving to a web-based, grant life cycle platform. These changes will be made across CAL FIRE’s grant programs as it is our program’s intent to make future solicitations and ongoing administration as automated and user-friendly as possible.
