The Stanislaus National Forest is filling a permanent Supervisory Visitor Information Specialist position for the Calaveras Ranger District in Hathaway Pines, California.

General duties include management of the District’s Front Desk Reception and Visitor Information Desk. This includes collection officer duties in selling/issuing/tracking inventory of Forest Service maps, passes and permits (personal fuelwood & wilderness) using the Forest Service POSS system. This position is also responsible for maintaining inventory, sales and display area for books, maps, and miscellaneous items sold thru our non-profit partner, Three Forest Interpretive Association. This position will be responsible for answering phones calls, mail correspondence regarding requests for information, providing current Forest/District information to walk-in visitors, and creating/updating information handouts. This position will be responsible for training and supervising multiple seasonal employees, conducting performance evaluations, assisting in employee hiring, and providing visitor information services at other District Offices/Supervisor’s Office. Collateral duties may include providing clerical assistance for other District personnel, assisting with special use permits, or providing support services assistance. This position may oversee a Forest-wide program, such as webpage management and/or social media postings to provide information and education to forest visitors.
